Of A People Who Are Missing On films by Danièle Huillet & Jean-Marie Straub
Exhibition and Ciné-Club Curated by Florian Schneider and Annett Busch. Extra City  Kunsthal Antwerpen Belgium Of A People Who Are Missing is a collaboration of Extra City – Kunsthal Antwerpen and Jan van Eyck Academie, Maastricht, in cooperation with University of Fine Arts Hamburg, Multitude e.V. and Time Festival, Ghent.

Moses and Aaron (introduced by Eyal Sivan) The exhibition will be opened by a screening of "Moses and Aaron", a film by Straub and Huillet from 1975. The movie will be introduced by filmmaker Eyal Sivan. "With Moses und Aron, I have tried to destroy Stravinsky’s quote saying that music was powerless to express the most abstract, the most ordinary, the most concrete things." (Jean-Marie Straub). MOSES AND AARON, a rendition of Arnold Schoenberg's opera, directed by Jean-Marie Straub and Daniele Huillet; screenplay by Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet; photography, Gianni Canfareill, Ugo Piccone, Saverio Diamanti, and Renato Berta; editors,Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet; production companies, Austrian Radio, West German Television, Janus Film and Fernsehen, NEF Diffusion, Straub-Huillet, Italian Television, French Television and Taurus Film; executive producer, Mr. Hellwig. "In the film we will see a very important reminder. This is maybe the only real image in the film. A reminder, that what is considered today as a western civilization or western people - us, the jews - in fact, became western only at the moment when they were pushed out from the European desert. Now that we are there, that we are not in Europe, we are not anymore Arabs. By keeping us in the Arab image, I think the Straubs gave us a great hommage." (Eyal Sivan)
